A private, self-hosted tool that keeps a portable archive of email.

dksc97 is a small utility that keeps a readable, offline copy of email. Its owner authorises it once with their own Google Account. It then reads the messages in that Gmail mailbox, saves each message as a Microsoft Outlook .msg file, and uploads those files into a folder in that same account's Google Drive. The result is a plain, provider-independent archive of the mail.

It runs only for its owner, on the owner's own machine, against the owner's own Google Account. There is no public sign-up, no third-party user base, and no advertising.

What it does

• Reads Gmail messages — headers, body and attachments — from the authorising account.
• Exports each message to a .msg file.
• Uploads the resulting files to a folder in that same account's Google Drive.
• Does not send, modify or delete mail on the owner's behalf.
